Section 344A of the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW) provides that a person who attempts to commit an offence is subject to the same penalty as if they had actually committed the offence.

Penalty:

An attempt generally results in the same penalty as if the person had committed the offence.

Serious Indictable Offences:

Where a person is convicted of an attempt involving a serious indictable offence, the person shall be deemed to have been convicted of a serious indictable offence.
